Free versus paid: what to give away
Deciding what adult content to post free and what to put behind a subscription or a paywall, so the free content sells the paid without replacing it.

Free content has a job
Free content is advertising. Its job is to bring in people who have never heard of you and give them a reason to pay. If it does that, it is worth any amount of effort. If it just gives fans everything they wanted for nothing, you are working for free.
The question for every piece is: does this make a stranger want more, or does it satisfy them?
What works as free
- Faces, personality and voice. Who you are is what fans pay to get closer to, and they cannot want that until they see it.
- Teasers and previews of paid content. A frame, a few seconds, a cropped version.
- Behind-the-scenes and daily life. These build the relationship without giving away the product.
- Occasional complete pieces, posted as a sample so new fans can judge quality. One in ten, not one in two.
- Everything you would post on social media anyway. Social platforms are free content by definition.
On VestaCreate, fans can follow you for free and see whatever you post publicly. Use that. A free follower is someone who liked you enough to click a button; your public posts are how you move them toward the subscription.
What belongs behind the paywall
- The full version of anything you previewed
- Explicit content, in most cases
- Anything with another creator in it, which is scarcer
- Content fans asked for, since the asking tells you it has value
- Long-form video. Attention is valuable; give it a price.
And behind a second wall, pay-per-view, goes the content that is clearly a step above your usual subscription posts. Subscribers should feel they get plenty; pay-per-view should feel like a treat, not a tax.
Three common mistakes
- Posting everything on free socials because the engagement feels good. Engagement is not income. Hold enough back that there is somewhere to go.
- Locking everything, including your face and personality. Nobody subscribes to a stranger behind a wall.
- Flipping between the two based on mood. Pick a ratio and keep it long enough to see results.
A rough split many creators land on is mostly teaser and personality posts on social media, with the subscription page itself mostly paid content plus regular public posts for free followers. Adjust once you see what converts.
A free piece tied to a reason works better than a random one: a milestone, a holiday, a collaboration, a sale on your VestaVids store. The reason tells fans this is an occasion, not the new normal.
Be generous enough that people like you, and disciplined enough that they still have to pay to get what they want. That balance is the whole craft.
