Writing your bio
How to write a creator bio that tells a stranger who you are, what you make and why to follow, in the few seconds they give you.

What a bio has to do
A stranger lands on your page from a link. They read your name, look at your photo, and read your bio in about three seconds. In that time the bio has to answer: who is this, what do they make, and what happens if I follow. If it does, they scroll down to your posts. If it does not, they leave.
A bio is not a place for mystery, a quote, or a row of symbols. It is a shop sign.
The three lines
Most good bios fit a simple structure.
- Who you are. One line. Your persona in a phrase: the vibe, the look, the energy. Written the way you talk.
- What you make. One line. Be specific. Photo sets, clips, custom videos, live streams, chat. Say your niche if you have one, in words fans would search for.
- What following gets them. One line. What free followers see, what subscribers get, how often you post, whether you reply to messages. This is the line that turns a visitor into a follower.
Then, if there is room: your posting days, a note on messaging (for example that it is paid, or free for subscribers), and a boundary or two if you want them visible.
Words that work
- Use the words your fans would use to describe you, not the words you would use on a résumé.
- Concrete beats vague. "New set every Tuesday and Friday" beats "regular content".
- Say what you do not do once, plainly, if people keep asking. It saves you a hundred messages.
- Match your tone to your content. Playful, dominant, soft, filthy, elegant: whatever it is, the bio should sound like your captions.
- Cut every word that is not doing a job. Then cut one more.
Mistakes that cost followers
- A bio that is all about the platform link and nothing about you.
- Promising more than you post. Fans notice.
- Hiding your prices entirely. You do not need to list them in the bio, but "free to follow" is worth saying.
- Writing one bio and never revisiting it. Update it when your content, schedule or prices change.
- Copying a successful creator's bio. It worked because it was true of them.
Use the same bio, shortened as needed, on every platform. A fan who sees you on Bluesky, then Reddit, then your VestaCreate page should feel like they met the same person each time. Same name, same photo, same voice, same promise.
