Your link in bio

How to use the single link most platforms give you: what to point it at, when a link page helps, and how to make sure sign-ups are attributed to you.

Almost every social platform gives you exactly one clickable link. People who tap it have already decided they are interested, so this is the most valuable click you get. The job of the link is to get that person from interest to following your page with as little friction as possible.

The simplest and usually best choice is to send them straight to your VestaCreate page, using your share link (?ref=username) so the sign-up is attributed. A fan arrives, sees your profile and previews, follows for free, and you have them where you can reach them again.

Link pages, the ones that show a list of buttons, are everywhere, and they have a cost. Every extra choice loses some people. Use one only when you genuinely have several destinations that matter:

  • Your VestaCreate page and your VestaVids clip store.
  • A wishlist and a mailing list sign-up.
  • Platform-specific pages, if you are active on more than one.

If you do use one, keep it short: three to five buttons, with your page first and clearly labelled as the main place to follow you. Match the photo and name to your other profiles. Delete anything you are not actively using; dead buttons make you look inactive.

Some social platforms are hostile to adult link pages or to adult destination domains. Check that your link actually works from each platform while logged out, and check again every month or so.

Make the landing worth it

Wherever the link goes, the first screen must answer three questions immediately: who you are, what you make, and what to do next. On your VestaCreate page that means a strong profile photo, a bio that says what you offer, and recent posts with previews visible. A link that lands on an empty page is a wasted click. The guides on your profile photo and writing your bio cover the detail.

  • Your bio on every social account, always with the ?ref parameter.
  • Your pinned posts.
  • The first reply under posts that get attention.
  • Captions, where the platform allows links.
  • Watermarks can carry your handle, which people will type into a search.

Keep one canonical version of the link written down so you paste the same one every time. Sign-ups through your share link show you which effort is working, so when you try a new platform, you can see whether it is bringing anyone.
