Promoting on X

How adult creators use X: sensitive media settings, what gets reach, handling links, and keeping the account alive.

What X allows

X permits adult content as long as you mark your media as sensitive in your account settings, and as long as it is consensual and kept out of places like profile images and banners. Check the current adult content policy before you post; the rules have shifted more than once and enforcement is uneven. Mark your account sensitive from the start rather than hoping to fix it after a strike.

The platform still has a large adult community, and for many creators it remains a steady source of new fans. It also has frustrations: reach for posts containing links is often lower, enforcement can be sudden, and accounts are lost without warning. Treat X as one channel among several, not your only one.

Setting up

  • Stage name, matching photo and handle, so people recognise you from your VestaCreate page.
  • A clear one-line bio stating what you make and where to find it, with your share link (?ref=username).
  • A profile photo and banner that are suggestive at most, since explicit images are not allowed in those spots.
  • A pinned post that introduces you, shows your best preview and links to your page.

What gets reach

X favours posts that get quick replies, reposts and time spent. For adult creators that usually means:

  • Images and short video over text alone.
  • Posting at times your audience is awake, which you can see from when replies arrive.
  • A caption with some personality rather than a bare image.
  • Replies to other creators and to your own replies. Conversation keeps posts alive.
  • Reposting your own best posts a day or two later, since most followers never saw them the first time.

Reposts from larger creators are the biggest single boost. Shoutout trades and genuine friendships with other creators do more than any posting trick.

Links are a separate problem: posts that contain them often travel less far. Common ways round it:

  • Put the link in the first reply to your own post instead of in the post.
  • Keep the link in your bio and say so in the caption.
  • Use your pinned post as the permanent doorway.

Whatever you do, always use your share link so sign-ups are attributed to the effort.

Keeping the account alive

  • Do not post content that could be read as involving minors, non-consensual acts, or anything else the policy forbids, even as a joke.
  • Do not run several accounts from the same device to game reach; it is a common cause of suspension.
  • Back up your audience elsewhere, which in practice means moving people to your page and your mailing list. If the account disappears, those are what you keep.
