Your share link and referrals
How the VestaCreate share link (?ref=username) attributes sign-ups to you, where to use it, and how to learn which promotion actually brings fans.

What the link is
Every VestaCreate creator has a share link: your page URL with ?ref=yourusername on the end. When someone opens that link and signs up, the sign-up is attributed to you. It is how VestaCreate knows which creators are bringing people to the platform, and it is how the fans you bring are credited to you rather than counted as walk-ins.
Use the share link, not the plain URL, every time you post your page anywhere.
Where to put it
- Your link-in-bio page, as the main link
- Bluesky, X, Reddit and any other social profile bios
- Your watermark, in short form if the full link is too long
- Your mailing list, in every message
- Captions when you share a preview on socials
- Your VestaVids store description
- Messages to fans on other platforms where linking is permitted. Check the current terms of each platform first; many restrict competitor links.
If you run or appear on a channel, promote the channel with your own share link too, so the audience you bring is attributed to you.
Learning where fans come from
Your share link tells VestaCreate that a sign-up came from you. To learn which of your promotion channels sent them, add your own layer:
- Use a link-in-bio service or a short link that counts clicks, and point it at your share link. Most of them show which platform the clicks came from.
- Watch timing. Sign-ups usually arrive in the hours after you post. If they cluster after your Reddit posts and not after your X posts, you have your answer.
- Ask. A one-line "where did you find me?" to new fans gets honest answers and starts a conversation.
- Compare quality, not just volume. One platform may send many followers who never spend and another a few who subscribe immediately. Watch what new fans do, not just how many there are.
When a source stops sending people, your content there has gone stale or the platform has changed its rules. Both are worth knowing early.
Referrals as a habit
Think of the share link as the standard way to say "I'm here". A few practical habits:
- Keep the link in a note on your phone so it is always one paste away
- Review once a month where your paying fans came from, and spend more of your time there
- When another creator shouts you out, ask them to use your share link, and use theirs when you return the favour
The link is small. The habit of knowing where your fans come from is most of what separates creators who grow on purpose from those who grow by luck.
