Promoting on Bluesky

How adult creators use Bluesky to reach new fans: labelling, custom feeds, what to post, and how to turn followers into visitors.

Why Bluesky suits adult creators

Bluesky allows adult content as long as you label it. Posts can carry a self-label for adult or suggestive content, and users choose in their own settings whether they see labelled material. That means you can post real previews without pretending they are something else, and your audience opts in rather than being shown your work by accident. Check the current community guidelines and labelling options before you start, because they do change.

Two other things help. Links are not penalised the way they are on some platforms, so a post with your page link is seen. And custom feeds let people subscribe to curated streams, including adult ones, which is a discovery route that does not exist elsewhere.

Setting up

  • Use the same handle, name and profile photo as your VestaCreate page so people recognise you across platforms.
  • Put your page link in your bio, using your share link (?ref=username) so sign-ups are attributed.
  • Set your account to label your media as adult by default so you never forget to label a post.
  • Say what you make in one line of your bio. People decide to follow in seconds.

What to post

Bluesky rewards consistency and personality more than polish.

  • Previews and crops from your paid content, labelled, with a sentence of context and a link.
  • Behind-the-scenes photos and short text posts about your day. People follow people.
  • Reply to other creators and to your followers. The platform is small enough that conversation is visible and builds an audience faster than broadcasting.
  • One or two posts a day is plenty. Flooding the timeline gets you muted.
  • Pin a post that explains what you offer and links to your page.

Avoid posting nothing but links. Mix one link post among several that are just there to be enjoyed, and people will follow the link when they see it.

Look for custom feeds built around adult content, your niche, or creators in general, and find out how to be included; many pick up posts by hashtag or label. Follow and interact with the creators who appear in them. Being featured in a well-followed feed can bring more new fans than anything else on the platform.

Turning followers into fans

Followers on Bluesky cost nothing and pay nothing. The job is to move them to your page, where they can follow for free and later pay for what they want.

  • Mention your page naturally when posting a preview: what is behind it, and the link.
  • Announce new posts, live streams and sales there first so following you on Bluesky has a reason.
  • Thank new subscribers publicly, without naming them unless they want it, so followers see that people do move across.
